My bilingual family storytimes all follow the same outline, and I fill in the blanks with books, flannel stories, and activities!
Book: Round is a Tortilla, by Roseanne Greenfield Thong.
Activity: Shape flannel board. I don’t have any pictures of this one, but I had all the shapes that we talked about in the book, and we matched them to the name in Spanish.
Book: The Cazuela that the Farm Maiden Stirred, by Samantha Vamos.
Activity: Cazuela game. I asked them to name the ingredients that they could remember from the book, and put them all up on the board. Then, I mixed them all together in the cazuela, and pulled out all but one. The kids then had to guess the missing ingredients.
Book: My Way/A mi manera, by Lynn Reiser.
